Hello my lovelies!

I have two questions for you all.

This one is sort of specifically to whoever dabbles in art on my flist:

How do you go about drawing two characters?

More specifically, do you mostly work on one character at a time or do you work on them both equally?

I must admit, I'm sort of struggling with this two character thing. What I've been doing is getting both to a certain point, working on one until near completion and then doing the other. While that works, it's frustrating because I have a hard time getting going and deciding on who to work on first. I feel all over the place and unfocused and ohhh, my brain hurts.

I do realize it's probably just me switching to a new gear and getting used to it. I'd love to know how you all go about it, though!

And my second question is for everyone! :D

What kind of hairstyle do you imagine on Draco?

And if you'd like to answer with picture examples, go right ahead!

I'm not sure how I see Draco, actually. I have Harry distinct in my mind, but Draco's always a but unclear. When I'm reading a fic, I tend to think of him with loose hair around his face, unless the author specifies a hairdo. I don't really imagine him with hair back off his face, but he seems to look best when I draw him that way for some reason. Maybe it just goes with the kind of face I give him.

At the moment, I'm trying to give him a hairdo with bangs instead of back, but he just doesn't look like Draco to me when I do that. I put bangs on him and he looks more like how I see Scorpius, and then once I push them back, he turns into Draco completely. Go figure, LOL!

So, tell me how you see Draco and how you like him best in your mind. I'm quite wanting to know!

Also, I'm so excited that [livejournal.com profile] hd_career_fair has started posting! :D It's brilliant. I really needed a H/D fix!

I'm far too flighty to be meticulous when I draw. I work on them both without much rhyme or reason. When I colour them, I start with flesh tones, move on to hair, clothing, and then everything else. But I definitely don't do one character at a time.

And this is my Draco, especially the hair. I picture it just touching his collar in the back.

especially for the "two or three years after hogwarts" fics. :)

unfortunately, i don't have a new visual for draco, whcih is frustrating being that i've been reading so many next-gen fics. i need an older draco!

I see Draco with either short slicked hair, like when he's at hogwarts. or with longer hair not as long as Lucius probably about shoulder length or just below. I don't see Draco with his hair out of a ponytail of some description or at least loosely pulled away from his face.

It's school holidays here so I have two weeks off work, I will have a hunt around and see if I can find some pics and email them to you.

For me, this drawing comes very, very close to how I see Draco:

Image (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v626/Samena/?action=view&current=Fanfic_Draco_by_LMRourke.jpg)

I tried to link to the drawing on DeviantArt, but for some reason it did not work. Here is a link to the artist's gallery (http://lmrourke.deviantart.com/gallery/#Harry-Potter).

This drawing (http://wycked.deviantart.com/art/What-now-Draco-49364317) comes very close, as well. I guess it depends on how you see him, also against a certain setting, and on his age. But on the whole I always picture his hair as sleek and longish. I don't really see him with bangs either, especially if he's older, but a fringe can be okay. :)

Hmmm... I always picture Draco with longer hair, and rarely, if ever, is it slicked back. The one exception is this pic (http://wycked.deviantart.com/art/What-now-Draco-49364317), which I LOVE, but I think the wind is blowing it back, it's not necessarily slicked back. this one (http://ceruleanvii.deviantart.com/art/October-detail-99084158) struck me as my Draco immediately, even though it's not meant to be him.

I think a lot of it depends on the context too. Obviously clean-cut banker!Draco will be different than rent-boy!Draco, but here are a few real pics that remind me of him. I think I'm heavily influenced by Tom Felton in GoF.

Oh, and I forgot... *points to icon* Obviously, him. *snickers*

I always see him with slicked back hair (http://phoenixacid.deviantart.com/art/For-You-120216685) as a child, a more relaxed version of that in his late teens (http://frodobolson72.deviantart.com/art/The-King-of-Slytherin-39471700) and he could have any hairstyle he wants as an adult (it depends on his lifestyle, his job and etc). A lordy, old money kinda Draco will probably have this hair (http://theband.deviantart.com/art/Choices-28920472), a rebel-y kind will have < a href="http://marikaart.deviantart.com/art/SLASH-BlueChair-88964987">this perhaps, a more normal Draco look will probably be like this (http://oldenuf2nobetter.deviantart.com/art/Hold-On-93544581). LOL. I still haven't found a look I'm satisfied with till now.

Ahhh, interesting! So you work on the same parts of them at the same time! That might be good for me to try, seriously. Because when I'm doing a portrait, I'll do one eye and then work on the other right after and match it. If I apply that to characters, maybe I'll have an easier time, lol!

Thank you, my sweet! *hugs*

That's the twitter dude, right? LOL I don't have a twitter account, either!

He's very Draco! Jaw's a little square for my taste, but he has the total vibe and yes, the hair, I like. :D Mmmmmm! Thanks lots for sharing!!

Yes, I totally agree. Boyd and also Jeremy. I've been loving them as Draco in his 20's for years, too!

And that's a beautiful picture of him, goodness. I don't think I've ever seen the full size. So adding it to my Boyd collection, hee!

You're very right, someone needs to find a good older Draco post haste! :D *cracks whip*

I usually imagine grown up Draco with loose jaw-length hair, no bangs, just all of it like tickling his jawline :b

Yes, he could be slightly more "pointy" LOL! Actually, I've seen other photos of this model and he's just not quite right. But THIS particular pic got me. He is mostly my vision of Draco from my Escort series, grown up and confident and not about to take shit from anyone.

I usually draw both of them at the same time... kinda. I start with the lineart, then do the basic colours on both characters. Then I do all the skin-shading on one character, then the other. Then I do the hair, and then details xD

And don't worry about it; I'm constantly wondering how to go about it, so... my method is just... how I do it. Obviously.

Draco's hair... usually like Boyd Holbrook in this picture (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_70rJ1ndenM0/SDhRsAMexrI/AAAAAAAACq4/mpvNVCMB3lE/s400/2008040714502864.jpg) (I hope you can see it :)) Just kind of... loosely combed back XD

The shoulder-length hair in a ponytail seems like a very traditional wizard's hairstyle, so I think it's definitely fitting of Draco! :D For me, the longest hair I ever think of him with is around his chin and mid-neck, but I'm not a huge fan of long hair on guys so that's more to do with it.

Ooo, I'd love to see any pictures you find, if you go looking! *g*

That icon of yours! Nnnnnnghhh, it never fails to get me, LOL! His facial features are almost exactly how I like to see Draco.

Thank you for showing me those art pieces! I don't think I've ever seen them. The second one is pretty much what I mean by pushed back; it's not slicked back, just out of his face. :)

And excellent point, it does depend very much on the setting and his age!

I always use it when I comment to any of your posts, because I know you like it so much. ;) And he has his hair pushed back, too. I think he looks very sophisticated and suave.

That picture I posted in my coment, 'Fanfic Draco'? I think I may be in love with it. I have a big printout of it framed in my bookcloset, and I look at it all the time. It really *is* Draco to me. I love his self-assured expression, and his gorgeous face, and the nonchalant-looking, but definitely minutely styled, hair. It's just perfect.

But I have many favourite fanart-Draco's. And yours is definitely in there as well! Your Harry and Draco are amazing! You are SO frigging talented. I'll stop now, before your head swells. ;P

Answer#1: Basically I work on multiple characters at the same time when sketching and drawing line art or B/W art, but when coloring I do either. When I'm doing quick "colored sketches" of watercolor with few layers(like this (http://pics.livejournal.com/yumekutteikt/pic/000ats98/)), I paint body parts of multiple characters concurrently(like, the skins of all characters in one layer, then the hairs of all characters, etc); when coloring with dry media paint, I create layer sets for each character and finish character by character, even when those characters share the similar color schemes(like this one (http://pics.livejournal.com/yumekutteikt/pic/0006xs0a/g31)). I dunno, I'm still working to find the best procedure for me.^^;
Oh, and who to work on first? No particular reason, but I start with the one nearest, or if there is no close-up person, from left to right.

Answer#2: Awww, no particular preference in Draco's hairdo unless it's too short. I've seen(and drawn) variety of Draco's hairstyle and still can't pick up the best in my mind. However, the easiest hairstyle to draw is the one in above icon!:-D

[livejournal.com profile] samena's just shown me that one of Draco, and ohhh, I've never seen that piece before! It's so wonderful. And the October picture is stunning! I agree, he's got such a Draco look.

OMG yes, I remember when I first saw the promo pics of Draco for GOF in '05 - I was on the floor from those, holy hell. Tom is so gorgeous. They still make me nnnnngghhh! :D

Thanks for all of those pics, babe! Really lovely! I totally with Cheryl, that last picture, yes.

And your icon! I've been wanting to know, what drawing is it from? *loves*
