Notes: For lavillanueva. I related rather strongly to her Harry from I Can Make You Promises, and this piece became a little more personal than I thought it would be. :)

Excerpt:

"Such as," Draco says, settling into position again, "these are going to ache for days."

"Days?"

"Days." He makes the first cut and Harry jerks, but stills after Draco shoots him a dark look. "And they're going to take months to heal." He draws the second mark, careful to line it up with the cut on the opposite side. Harry makes a noise, but doesn't move. "They'll be red, then pink," he makes the third cut, "and then they'll fade to white. But you know what?"

"What?" Harry asks, his voice soft and easy.

"Even after they heal, the scars will still be there." He's working quickly now, guiding the blade with confidence. Perhaps he's not so far out of practice. "And they'll never go away."

"Never?"

"Never," Draco promises, and makes the final cut. "You'll have them forever."

I don't know the story at all, but I suspect you cut to the brutal heart of its message, as you are so able to do. What I particularly admire is the positioning of Harry's head, and the foreshortening of his features. It's so hard not to get facial features squashed looking, and you managed to do that so very well.

On a different topic I'm reading a book with various authors' takes on Cenobites, and the scarification shown in your art is very much in line with images these stories paint in my head.
